Trail Description
Ladner Harbour in Delta is the kind of walk you do when you want fresh air without breaking a sweat. This 2.7 km out-and-back trail is almost completely flat, with only 13 m of gain and a max elevation around 9 m, so it’s more of a relaxed stroll than a hike. It usually takes about half an hour, but you’ll probably slow down to watch the birds, boats, and the odd rabbit darting across the grass.
The Ladner Harbour trail winds through light woodlands, along marshes, and out toward views of the harbour, Fraser River side channels, and moored boats. Parts of the route run beside a fence and briefly along a quiet road, but most people remember the lagoon, the upgraded bridges, and the harbour lookout more than the pavement. It’s a popular loop for locals walking the dog, pushing a stroller, or just stretching their legs on a sunny afternoon.
Recent walkers mention muddy patches after heavy rain and king tides, and puddles that stick around in low spots, so expect wet shoes in fall and winter. The trail is generally stroller friendly, but there are some roots at the far end and the new bridges can get slick when frosty. Summer brings mosquitos, especially in July near the marshes, so bug spray is smart. Ladner Harbour is walkable year-round, with the best bird watching in the cooler months and the most comfortable conditions in spring and early summer.
