Trail Description

Brunswick Point in Delta, BC is one of those super easy, low-effort walks that still feels rewarding. This 10.8 km out-and-back trail is basically flat, with only 34 m of gain and a max elevation of around 7 m, so it’s more of a relaxed riverside stroll than a hike. Plan for about two hours at a steady pace, with lots of chances to stop and look around.

The trail follows the edge of the Fraser River with wide-open views toward the Gulf Islands, Deltaport, and on clear days, Mount Baker in the distance. An eagles’ nest near the start of Brunswick Point is a fun highlight, and the area is well-known for birding, including big flocks of snow geese around the 2.5 km mark in season. You’ll pass benches along the way where you can sit, watch the ships, scan for wildlife, or just enjoy the steady river scenery.

Current reports describe Brunswick Point as very easy and well-suited to families, casual walkers, and anyone easing into longer distances. The path is exposed, so bring a hat, water, and a windbreaker if it’s breezy off the river, and expect bugs in warmer months, from harmless little hitchhikers to more annoying biters at dusk. The trail in Delta is open year-round, but it can get muddy and puddled after heavy rain and during winter high tides, so waterproof shoes are smart, and sunrise or sunset walks here are often the most rewarding for bird activity and softer light.
