Trail Description

Riverview Forest Trails in Coquitlam is a quick, low-commitment loop that feels more like a quiet escape than a workout. At just 1.8 km with about 33 m of elevation gain and a high point around 148 m, it’s a very easy route that most people finish in under half an hour, making it a solid option for a short after-work walk or a gentle intro to forest trails.

The loop winds through classic Coquitlam second-growth forest, with a mix of gentle ups and downs that keep it from feeling boring without ever getting steep. Expect a soft dirt path, lots of tree roots underfoot, and a calm, shaded vibe; recent hikers mention how quiet it is, often only passing one or two people and the occasional dog, so it can feel surprisingly secluded for how close it is to town.

Current reports highlight a couple of things to watch for: some sections of Riverview Forest Trails are designated bikes-only, so pay attention to signage and be ready to step aside if you hear riders coming. The roots can be grabby, especially when wet, so a bit of tread on your shoes helps, even though the hike is rated very easy. This loop is generally good year-round, with the driest, most straightforward conditions from summer into early fall, while rainy months mean more mud and slick sections but still a very manageable, short forest walk in Coquitlam.
