Trail Description
Mackin Park in Coquitlam is more of a quick neighborhood stroll than a full-on hike, but it’s a handy little loop if you live or work nearby. The 0.8 km Mackin Park loop is flat, easy, and takes about 9 minutes at a relaxed pace, so it’s ideal for stretching your legs, walking the dog, or adding a short cool-down to a longer run through the area.
The path circles the park on a simple loop with only about 4 metres of elevation gain, topping out around 13 metres, so there’s nothing challenging here. You’ll pass open grassy areas, sports fields, and a few trees, with steady views of the surrounding Maillardville neighbourhood in Coquitlam rather than wild scenery. It’s an urban park walk, not a forest escape, but it’s convenient and straightforward.
Recent visitors mention that Mackin Park can feel overrun with dogs at times, so if you’re not a fan of off-leash energy, try going early in the morning or on quieter weekdays. The loop is very short, so most people do a few laps if they want more movement. The trail is usable year-round thanks to its flat grade and city setting, though expect some puddles after heavy rain and more crowds in the late afternoon when locals come out with their dogs and kids.
