Trail Description
Belcarra Bluffs and Admiralty Point Trail is one of those Coquitlam-area hikes that feels more off-grid than it actually is. This 6 km loop packs in about 295 m of gain, topping out around 253 m, so it’s a solid moderate outing without being a suffer-fest. Plan for roughly two hours, a couple of big views over Burrard Inlet, and way fewer people than you’d expect this close to the city.
You start on the wide, paved Springboard Trail from the Belcarra parking lot, then leave the crowds behind as the route turns into classic coastal forest: roots, rocks, and narrow singletrack. The upper Belcarra Bluffs lookout gives a wide view over the inlet and city, while the Admiralty Point section brings you back along the shoreline with small beaches, rocky outcrops, and lots of shade. Half the loop feels quiet and remote in the trees; the other half cruises close to the water with easy walking and plenty of spots to stop and stare.
Here’s the big thing with Belcarra Bluffs and Admiralty Point Trail in Coquitlam: the loop is barely marked once you leave the paved path. Go clockwise to make the elevation more gradual, and absolutely download an offline map before you start, as there are multiple unsigned junctions and spotty reception. Expect wet roots, mud, and a few slippery sections after rain, and bring good grip, maybe poles. Parking at Belcarra is paid most of the year and fills by midday on weekends and holidays, but fall colours, summer shade, and quieter weekday afternoons make this a great go-to local hike almost year-round.
