Trail Description

Hustler to Triple Crown Loop is a solid grind in the Burke Mountain area of Coquitlam, not some gentle stroll with big summit views. It’s listed around 7.7 km with 470 m of gain, but many hikers track it closer to 9–10 km, so expect a bit more time on your feet than the 3-hour average suggests. If you want a straightforward workout on mixed gravel road and rough singletrack, this loop does the job.

The first half of the Hustler to Triple Crown Loop is basically an access road climb: long, steady, and not very scenic, though the surrounding Burke Mountain forest is still nice. Higher up, the route dives into proper mountain bike trails with rutted, rocky sections and a few short viewpoints over the Lower Mainland, but don’t expect a big payoff at “Triple Crown” itself. This is bike-first terrain, so the trail can feel narrow and chewed up in spots.

Current reports from hikers say the loop is dry in good weather but very loose underfoot, so trekking poles help a lot on both the climb and descent. Navigation is the real challenge: there are tons of offshoots, poor markings, and the AllTrails line doesn’t always match the actual tread, so download a map and keep an eye on it or you’ll add hours wandering around. Watch for private property signs, listen for fast-moving riders, and bring bug spray in warmer months; late spring to early fall is the best window before snow and winter closures affect the higher sections.
