Trail Description

Admiralty Point Trail is actually in Belcarra Regional Park near Port Moody, not Coquitlam, and it’s one of the easiest coastal walks in Metro Vancouver. This 5.5 km out-and-back route is mostly flat, rated very easy, and usually takes around 1 hour 15 minutes, with plenty of spots to stop and hang out by the water. Think relaxed walk, ocean views, and no big climbs.

The Admiralty Point Trail follows the shoreline with views across Burrard Inlet to Deep Cove, Burnaby Mountain, and the North Shore. You’ll pass small creek waterfalls, rocky beaches, and side viewpoints like Cod Rock and Burns Point, where people spread out for picnics, naps, and sunset watching, and some even go in for an ocean dip. Expect some roots, rocks, narrow sections with drop-offs, and industrial noise from tankers, but the scenery and beach access make it a solid low-effort outing.

Recent hikers say the trail is well-maintained but can get muddy and slippery after rain, so good shoes and maybe a hiking pole help. The trailhead in Belcarra Regional Park is easy to miss and starts near the portable toilets, and the fork to Belcarra Bluffs is poorly marked, so download a map beforehand. Pay parking runs until Sept 30, it’s about $3.25 an hour, and weekends can be a bit of a gong show for spots, so come early or on a weekday for a quieter, cleaner, cooler walk along the water.
