Trail Description
The Terry Fox Route in Burnaby is an easy 5 km loop that feels like a quick reset in the middle of the city. You’re walking in Central Park, but once you’re on the trail, the traffic noise fades and it turns into a relaxed, green escape that most people finish in about an hour.
The loop winds through tall trees, past ponds, and along wide, mixed-surface paths that work for walkers, casual runners, and families. The grade is almost flat, with only about 36 m of gain to a max of roughly 134 m, so it’s more of a steady stroll than a workout, with plenty of shade and greenery to keep it cool and calm.
Recent visitors call it a happy, fun walk with lots of space to pass others, even when it’s busy on sunny days and summer evenings. The Terry Fox Route is open year-round, dog-friendly on leash, and has plenty of parking around Central Park near the playground, pool, and Swangard Stadium. Expect some sections of packed dirt, gravel, and rubberized paths, and bring a light jacket in cooler months since the tree cover can make it feel a bit cooler than the surrounding Burnaby streets.
