Trail Description
Poplar Trail in Burnaby is a super short, super easy loop that works well when you just want a quick leg stretch without leaving the city. At only 1.1 km with about 15 m of elevation gain and a max altitude around 49 m, it’s more of a relaxed stroll than a hike, and most people finish it in about 15 minutes.
The Poplar Trail loop winds through a quiet green space, giving you a bit of forest feel right in Burnaby. It’s flat, family-friendly, and popular with dog walkers, so expect a mellow pace, simple navigation, and no technical sections to worry about.
Right now, half of Poplar Trail is under construction, so be prepared for partial closures, detours, and possibly some noise or machinery along the route. Check for current notices from the City of Burnaby before you go, and don’t be surprised if the loop doesn’t fully connect. This spot works best as a quick daily walk, a warm-up run, or an easy outing with kids or leashed dogs in any season, as long as you’re okay with the ongoing work on the trail.
