Trail Description
Mountain Air Trail in Burnaby is a quick hit of green space that feels way more “mountain” than the stats suggest. This 2.9 km out-and-back route climbs about 109 m and usually takes under an hour, so it’s an easy option when you want a real walk without committing your whole day.
The trail kicks off with a short, spicy climb that wakes up the legs, then eases into a mellow forest stroll under tall trees. You’ll move between urban edges and deeper woods, with peekaboo views and a sense that you’ve stepped out of the city even though you’re still in Burnaby. It’s popular with walkers, runners, and mountain bikers, and links into routes like the Velodrome Trail and Drummond Walk Urban Trail if you want to extend things.
Recent hikers call Mountain Air Trail “easy peasy,” and it’s been a go-to for folks easing back in after injuries, thanks to the gentle grade after that initial push. The path is well maintained, open year-round, and usually in good shape, though it can get slick and muddy after rain. Dogs are allowed on leash, there’s lots of nearby parking, and the low elevation means this Burnaby trail is a reliable, no-fuss option in any season.
