Trail Description

Gilmore Way Urban Trail in Burnaby, British Columbia isn’t a wilderness escape, it’s a quick, practical city walk that links neighborhoods and transit. At just 1.1 km point to point with only 21 m of elevation gain, it’s a very easy route that most people finish in around 15–20 minutes. Think of it as a convenient stretch-your-legs option or a short dog walk rather than a destination hike.

The “trail” is essentially a sidewalk along Gilmore Way, so you’re walking beside a road the whole time. You’ll get typical Burnaby urban views: light traffic, nearby businesses, and glimpses of residential areas rather than forest or mountain scenery. It works well for a quick run, pushing a stroller, or connecting between bus stops or SkyTrain, especially if you’re piecing together a longer urban walk in Burnaby.

Current reports are clear: this is paved sidewalk, not a park path, and there’s metered parking at the trailhead, so bring coins or a payment app. Because it’s all pavement and low elevation, the Gilmore Way Urban Trail is walkable year-round, though it can be wet and splashed by passing cars in rainy months. If you want nature, you’ll be happier heading to nearby Burnaby Lake or Central Park, but if you just need a safe, flat, and fast urban route, this one does the job.
