Trail Description

Fraser River Waterfront Pathway in Burnaby is the kind of route you keep coming back to when you just want an easy, no-stress walk by the water. It’s a flat 6.6 km out-and-back with only about 27 m of elevation gain, so it feels more like a long stroll than a hike, usually done in around an hour and fifteen minutes.

The path follows the Fraser River almost the whole way, so you’re walking with constant river views, passing working waterfront scenes, birds cruising by, and the occasional tug or barge rolling past. The wide, level surface makes it friendly for walking, running, and casual cycling, and the low max elevation of around 9 m keeps it accessible for just about everyone.

Recent visitors describe the Fraser River Waterfront Pathway as a peaceful, easy flat walk with far fewer people than you’d expect for such a convenient riverside route. There are two bathrooms along the way, and the trail is open year-round, making it a solid choice for a rain-free day when you don’t feel like heading into the mountains. Bring a light jacket for the breeze off the river, keep dogs leashed, and expect a relaxed, low-effort outing right in Burnaby.
