Trail Description

The Confederation Park to Montrose Park via Trans Canada Trail route in Burnaby is a quick, low-commitment way to stretch your legs without leaving the city. At 4.3 km with only about 51 m of elevation gain and a high point around 69 m, it’s more of a relaxed urban walk than a hike, and most people cruise through it in under an hour.

The path links Confederation Park and Montrose Park using a section of the Trans Canada Trail, so expect paved and gravel sections, city park paths, and some residential feel along the way. It’s flat, straightforward, and easy to follow, making it a solid option for a morning wake-up walk, a short run, or a casual spin on a bike.

Recent hikers describe it as a “cute little urban trail,” even in classic Vancouver rain, but note that a section has been signed as closed even though many people are still walking it. Use your judgment there and be ready to reroute slightly if needed. This Burnaby trail is accessible year-round, though it’s more pleasant in dry weather; bring a rain jacket in the wetter months and keep dogs on leash as you pass through busy park areas and shared-use paths.
