Trail Description

Teapot Hill from Watt Creek Trailhead is a short, punchy hike in Cultus Lake, just outside Chilliwack, that packs more character than its stats suggest. At about 6 km return with 271 m of gain, it’s rated easy, but expect a steady grind on the way up and a quick cruise back down. People come for the workout, the forest, and of course the quirky collection of teapots tucked into the trees.

The trail starts off with a steep set of switchbacks that catch a lot of people by surprise, then eases into a more relaxed climb after the first 1.5 km. Once you’re past that initial push, it’s a mellow wander through classic West Coast forest with lots of teapots, cups, and odd little decorations to spot along the way, which keeps kids and adults entertained. Near the top you get a decent viewpoint over Cultus Lake and the surrounding hills, a nice payoff before turning around on this out-and-back route.

Recent hikers report the Teapot Hill from Watt Creek Trailhead route as muddy in spots, especially after rain, with one section past the creek crossing getting overgrown and full of stinging nettle in the lush season. The first climb is steep but manageable for most, including families, as long as you take your time and wear proper footwear. There have been black bear sightings along the trail and wasps are active in warmer months, so keep dogs leashed, make noise, and pack spray if you have it. This one works year-round, but late spring through fall offers the best balance of clear trail, fun teapot hunting, and solid views.
