Trail Description

Pixtel to Canyon Loop in Chilliwack is one of those short, easy trails that still feels like a real escape. At just 2.7 km with about 91 m of gain, it’s a quick 45–50 minute loop that dips you into cool forest and canyon vibes without much effort. Locals love it as a regular go-to walk, especially with dogs.

The loop winds through old growth-style forest with big trees, thick green undergrowth, and the sound of Ford Creek nearby. The first stretch is mostly downhill and can be a bit muddy, then it steepens with roots and rocks for a short climb before looping back toward the parking area. You’re likely to spot slugs, hear owls, and enjoy a quiet, shaded walk that feels far from town even though you’re still in Chilliwack.

Recent hikers say Pixtel to Canyon Loop is fully off-leash dog friendly and a favorite for pups, but be ready for a few quirks. There’s a log down on the canyon loop you’ll need to step over, some stinging nettles along the sides, and in bug season the mosquitoes can be brutal, so strong repellent and long sleeves help. The trail stays cool thanks to the creek, making it a solid choice from spring through fall, and it’s easy enough that most people will want to come back and do it again.
