Trail Description

Teapot Hill in Chilliwack, right above Cultus Lake, is one of those short hikes that sticks with you. The 4.8 km out-and-back trail climbs about 255 m, so you’ll feel your legs, but most people finish it in around an hour and a half. The real draw isn’t a huge summit panorama, it’s the odd little world of teapots, mugs, and cups tucked into the forest along the way.

The trail itself is wide, well maintained, and basically uphill the whole time, with a steady grade and a few steeper sections. As you wind through mossy forest, it starts to feel like a walking scavenger hunt, with kids and adults counting how many teapots they can spot in the trees and on stumps. There is a partial viewpoint near the top where you can see slices of Cultus Lake and out toward Columbia Valley, but tall trees now block a lot of what used to be the main view.

Recent hikers say Teapot Hill is in good shape, easy to follow, and busy, especially on weekends and in peak season. Expect a solid workout if you’re not used to hills, but locals generally call it easy to moderate and very family friendly, even with younger kids. The highlight is the “Where’s Waldo” feel of all the teapots, not the lookout, so go for the fun factor more than the vista, bring bug spray in warmer months, and if you add your own teapot, place it carefully and respect the forest since BC Parks does remove excess decorations from time to time.
