Trail Description

Pitxel and Cholqthet Loop in Chilliwack is a short, foresty wander that feels like a proper hike without eating your whole day. At 2.9 km with about 114 m of gain, it’s rated easy, but expect a bit of a workout on the way up before it eases off. Most people wrap it up in under an hour, and it’s a solid choice for families, casual hikers, and anyone wanting a mellow leg-stretcher close to town.

The loop climbs in gentle switchbacks through tall trees, then rolls back down for a relaxed finish. There’s no big viewpoint or summit moment on the Pitxel and Cholqthet Loop, but the draw here is the quiet forest, soft trail, and the web of intersecting routes you can explore if you want to extend your day. It’s also popular with trail runners and mountain bikers, so expect some company and keep an ear out on the corners.

Recent hikers report the trail as well marked, well maintained, and dry in good weather, with only a bit of slipperiness when leaves cover the path. It’s dog friendly and often used off leash, but stay alert for bikes and give them space. This Chilliwack loop works most of the year, with March through October being the most comfortable window, and it’s manageable for kids and even older parents as long as everyone is okay with a steady 30-minute climb before the easy descent.
