Trail Description

Notorizer, Ditch Chicken, Electric Lettuce, Mango Mango, Femur Loop sounds like a wild hiking sampler, but in reality it’s a fast, technical mountain bike loop on Vedder Mountain in Chilliwack, BC. The 4.8 km circuit with about 254 m of gain tops out around 381 m and is rated moderate on paper, but that rating only makes sense for riders, not hikers. If you’re on foot, this is not a good choice and is considered unsafe by locals who know the area well.

The loop strings together several downhill-only bike trails that are built for speed, jumps, and narrow one-way flow. Sections like Ditch Chicken, Femur, Electric Lettuce, Mango Mango, Mexican Ninja, and New Mexico are designed so riders can commit to features without expecting people walking uphill around blind corners. The forest is dense, the line of sight is short, and the mix of woodwork, dirt, and rock is set up for bike tires, not hiking boots.

Recent reports from Vedder Mountain are very clear: treat Notorizer, Ditch Chicken, Electric Lettuce, Mango Mango, Femur Loop as a bike route only and stay off it if you’re hiking or running. Hikers are strongly encouraged to stick to safer options like Sunnyside Up, Kerry’d Away, and the Vedder Mountain Ridge Trail, which are far better suited to foot traffic and still give you solid views and a good workout. The area is busy with riders most of the year, so always read the signage at the trailhead, respect the downhill-only designations, and choose routes that are actually meant for hiking in Chilliwack.
