Trail Description
Lindeman and Greendrop Lakes Trail is one of the classic outings in Chilliwack’s Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park, but it’s not the casual stroll the stats suggest. On paper it’s about 11.9 km out and back with roughly 493 m of gain to around 997 m, tagged as moderate. In reality, most people find it on the tougher side of moderate thanks to all the rocks, roots, and boulder fields that slow your pace and work your legs a lot harder than expected.
The hike from the trailhead up to Lindeman Lake is the steepest section, a short grind on a well-marked, busy path that climbs quickly through forest. Lindeman’s clear blue-green water and surrounding peaks steal the show, and many hikers call it a day right there. Continuing on the Lindeman and Greendrop Lakes Trail, you wrap around the far side of Lindeman and start crossing multiple rockslide and boulder sections broken up by shaded forest, with only gentle elevation changes and quieter vibes as you approach Greendrop Lake, which is calmer but less dramatic than Lindeman.
Recent hikers report that the trail is very rocky and technical beyond Lindeman, with endless boulder hopping that can be hard on knees, ankles, and big dogs; small kids and less sure-footed hikers may struggle. Expect heavy crowds to Lindeman, especially weekends, and a much quieter feel toward Greendrop. The main parking lot off Chilliwack Lake Road can fill early and is sometimes closed, but there’s roadside parking nearby, and conditions are generally best from spring through fall when the rocks are dry and free of snow or ice. Bring solid footwear, plenty of water, and give yourself more time than the “average” estimate if you’re not a speedy hiker.
