Trail Description

Gussy's, Owl and Big Rock Loop is a short, low-commitment forest walk near Lindell Beach in the Chilliwack area that still gives you something to look at. At 3.5 km with about 182 m of gain and a high point around 257 m, it’s an easy loop that most people finish in about an hour and a bit, making it a solid option for a quick leg-stretcher or an after-work hike.

The loop starts from Highland Drive and follows the Waterworks Access Road before ducking into a network of singletrack trails. You’ll wander through second-growth forest, hear the creek alongside parts of the route, and pass a mix of ferns and big mossy trunks before reaching the namesake feature: a legitimately huge boulder at the end of the Big Rock section that lives up to the hype.

Recent hikers say Gussy's, Owl and Big Rock Loop is a simple walk in the woods, but note that sections are overgrown with stinging nettle, so long pants are a smart move, especially in late spring and summer. The trail can feel a touch rough and “moderate” for brand-new hikers due to roots and brush, though there’s nothing technical. It’s usually quiet, open year-round, and dog friendly, but expect wet, slick patches after rain and be ready for a bit of light bushwhacking and basic route-finding where the path fades.
