Trail Description

Lower Bridal Falls Viewpoint is a no-nonsense grind above Bridal Falls, just east of Chilliwack, and it feels more like a workout than a wander. This 8.4 km out-and-back climbs about 693 m on a forest service road to around 751 m, and most people clock it in 3.5 to 4 hours. It’s rated challenging not because of sketchy terrain, but because it just goes up and up with very little let-up.

The hike itself is mostly steady uphill on gravel FSR with limited views on the way, so don’t expect a scenic stroll. About five minutes in there’s a small waterfall, then it’s a long, repetitive climb through the trees until the top opens into a cul-de-sac-style area. Keep walking past the barriers and you’re rewarded with a wide lookout over Chilliwack and the valley, which is why people still bother with the slog.

Recent reports for Lower Bridal Falls Viewpoint mention a handmade sign saying it’s not the road to Bridal Falls; if you see it, you’re actually on track. The surface is rough on the knees coming down, so a walking stick helps, and in winter you usually won’t need crampons or snowshoes at the viewpoint level, though snow lingers higher toward Mount Archibald. There have been closures and heavy machinery in the area for new gondola work, so check current access before you go, aim for June to August for the driest conditions, and know this is more about fitness and that final view than a varied, scenic trail.
