Trail Description

Bosumarne Falls is one of those “how is this not busier?” hikes just outside Chilliwack, a short detour off the Chilliwack Lake Road. The trail is only about 2.6 km return with 142 m of gain, so most people finish it in under an hour, but the payoff feels way bigger than the stats. You get cool forest, two sets of waterfalls, and the sense you’ve found a bit of a local secret.

The Bosumarne Falls trail starts from an unmarked boot path off the road, then slips quickly into shady forest on a narrow, mostly flat track. You’ll reach the lower falls first, then continue up a steeper, rooty section with a bit of easy scrambling and some log holds to reach the upper falls, which are the real show. It’s an out-and-back route, dog-friendly, and close enough to Chilliwack Lake that you can easily tack it onto a day at the park.

Right now, expect a well-worn but unofficial trail with no sign at the road and limited shoulder parking, so download your map before you lose service. The small bridge near the top is broken and sketchy, but people are still crossing it carefully, sometimes using makeshift handrails; waterproof boots help, and you’ll need to step over a few boulders near the falls. In summer, watch for wasps and poison ivy and consider long sleeves; in winter and shoulder seasons, the route can be icy and microspikes make the short climb to the upper falls much safer.
