Trail Description

Old Pole Road and Lazy Boy Loop is a relaxed forest ramble in Pender Harbour on the Sunshine Coast, a solid choice when you want mileage without a big climb. The loop is about 10.9 km with only 169 m of elevation gain, topping out around 224 m, so it feels more like a long walk in the woods than a grind. Most people wrap it up in about 2.5 hours at a steady pace.

The trail weaves along old logging roads and singletrack, with a mix of packed dirt, roots, and the odd rocky patch, but nothing technical for most hikers. You’ll get classic Sunshine Coast forest vibes: tall trees, filtered light, and the occasional opening where you can catch glimpses of the surrounding hills and nearby residential pockets. It’s shared with mountain bikes and runners, so expect some company, especially on weekends.

Current reports describe Old Pole Road and Lazy Boy Loop as easygoing and in decent shape, though it can get muddy and slick after rain, especially in shaded sections. Good footwear is still smart, even with the gentle grade, and keeping dogs leashed is important with bike traffic around. This loop works year-round thanks to the low elevation, but winter and shoulder seasons can mean puddles, wet roots, and cooler, damp air in the trees, while summer brings drier tread and more people on the trail.
