Trail Description

Town Dyke Trail in Squamish is more of a flat riverside stroll than a hike, with just 11 metres of elevation over 3.5 km. It’s a super casual out-and-back route that usually takes around 40 minutes, popular with locals looking for a quick leg stretch close to town.

The walking is easy, with wide, mostly level terrain that works for all ages and fitness levels. You’re down near sea level the whole time, so the appeal is less about big views and more about open sky, dyke-side scenery, and a quiet, low-key feel away from the highway.

Recent reports say Town Dyke Trail is partly blocked and that about half the original route no longer exists, with some sections now passing near or into what feels like private property. Expect dead-ends, possible reroutes, and be ready to turn around earlier than planned; follow any posted signs and respect property boundaries. This one is best as a short local walk from roughly February through October, and it’s smart to check the latest comments or maps before you go so you’re not surprised by closures or access changes.
