Trail Description

The Covenant and Trestle Trail Loop in Squamish is a short, easy wander that feels like a real “locals’ route.” At 3.7 km with only about 95 m of gain, it’s a relaxed loop that most people finish in under an hour, but it still gives you that classic Squamish forest vibe without the crowds or the grind.

Once you leave the trailhead near Park Crescent, the loop links Coho Park Trail, The Covenant, Trestle Trail and 4 Play into one continuous walk. You move through mossy forest, over a bunch of small wooden bridges, and along creeks with little waterfalls, especially on the Trestle Trail section. It’s close to town, but once you’re in the trees, it feels quiet and surprisingly varied for such a low-elevation route.

Recent hikers say The Covenant and Trestle Trail Loop is very easy and they’ve been recommending it to friends, but the signage can be hit or miss, so downloading a map is smart. Some sections get muddy, though most people have been able to skirt around the worst of it, and regular runners or light hikers will be fine in normal shoes. The trail is used year-round for hiking, biking, and even the odd ski or snowshoe when Squamish actually gets snow at this elevation, so expect wet roots, the odd puddle, and adjust your pace if you’re sharing with riders.
