Trail Description

Mamquam Trail in Squamish is a solid choice if you want a quick loop with a bit of climb and a real forest feel without committing your whole day. The loop is about 4.8 km with around 258 m of elevation gain, usually taking about 1 hour 45 minutes, so it lands squarely in the moderate zone for most hikers.

The Mamquam Trail winds through classic Squamish forest, with a mix of roots, rocks, and smoother sections that keep things interesting. You’ll get short peeks through the trees, mossy slopes, and that damp coastal air, plus a few punchy climbs and relaxed cruisy stretches that make the loop feel varied instead of repetitive.

Right now, the main thing to know is parking: because of construction on Powerhouse Springs Road, you’ll likely be adding about 1.5 km each way just to reach the trailhead from the nearest parking, so budget for an extra 3 km on your day. Some locals are parking at Quest University and connecting through the trail network instead. The route is shared with mountain bikes, so keep your ears open on corners and keep dogs close in busier sections. Mamquam Trail is hikeable most of the year, but it can be muddy and slick after rain, so good tread and a light layer for the shade go a long way.
