Trail Description

Lucille Lake Loop in Squamish is one of those hikes that sounds better on a map than it feels underfoot, so it helps to know what you’re getting into. It’s a short 3.5 km loop with only about 61 m of gain, topping out around 380 m, so the effort is minimal and the walk itself is very easy. The main draw is a quick forest stroll with a lake and beach to hang out at, not some big viewpoint mission.

The trail starts from the top of Reta Lake Road by the yellow gate, then you drop down on the Sea to Sky Trail toward Lucille Lake. The walk through the trees is pleasant and mellow, and the little beach on the point around “10 o’clock” on the loop is the real payoff if you want a lakeside break. Lucille Lake Loop is close to Squamish and the Sea to Sky Highway, so it’s more of a casual outing than a wilderness escape.

Here’s the honest part: the loop as shown on many maps, including AllTrails, is no longer accurate. The trail west from the beach toward the forest service road is faint, easy to lose, and several hikers now just turn around at the lake instead of forcing the loop, especially if hiking counterclockwise. Expect summer crowds and noise at the beach, limited parking by the FSR, and bring a downloaded map but be ready to improvise; July and August are the most popular months, but if you want a quieter experience, aim for early morning or shoulder season and treat it as an out‑and‑back to the lake, not a full loop.
