Trail Description

Garibaldi Highlands and Bob McIntosh Memorial Loop is a classic Squamish mixed-use trail: forested, twisty, and busy with bikes. At 13.4 km with about 366 m of gain and a high point around 395 m, it’s a moderate loop that usually takes just under 4 hours on foot. The draw here is less about big summit payoffs and more about cruising through the Garibaldi Highlands trail network on a rolling, flowing route.

The loop links together Mashiter, Four Lakes Trail, Bob McIntosh Memorial, and Dead End Loop, starting from the north end of Perth Drive in the Garibaldi Highlands area of Squamish. Expect classic coastal forest, narrow singletrack, and a mix of packed dirt, roots, and wooden boardwalks, with short ups and downs rather than one big climb. Views are mostly filtered through the trees, with the appeal coming from the feel of the terrain and the quiet pockets of second-growth forest rather than big open vistas.

Recent hikers are clear that Garibaldi Highlands and Bob McIntosh Memorial Loop is more of a mountain bike trail than a pure hiking destination, with a lot of rider traffic, especially on weekends and dry evenings. If you’re on foot, go early, keep dogs close, and stay alert on corners and downhills so bikers aren’t surprised. The trail is usable year-round thanks to its low elevation, though it can get muddy and slick in the wet months; if you have a bike and basic skills, this route is far more fun in the saddle than on boots.
