Trail Description

Furry Creek Knob Deck via FSR is a short, quiet grind with a big payoff above Howe Sound, just south of Squamish near Furry Creek. At 5.1 km out and back with about 278 m of gain up to roughly 374 m, it’s classed as moderate, but most reasonably fit hikers will find it more of a steady uphill walk than a technical challenge.

The route follows a forest service road for most of the way, so don’t expect a soft forest singletrack; this is more gravel road slog with a rocky finish. Views open up as you climb, with glimpses toward the water and surrounding coastal mountains, and the final knob and deck area make a solid spot to sit down, snack, and enjoy how quiet it usually is compared to busier Squamish hikes.

Recent reports on Furry Creek Knob Deck via FSR mention bear scat about 1 km in and a coyote sighting, so keep dogs leashed, make noise, and know basic wildlife safety. The FSR is fine for hiking and gravel biking, but the last stretch is steep and rocky, turning into hike-a-bike for cyclists, and there’s a gate situation that can stop vehicles well before the trailhead unless you have a key. Parking is limited to a couple of cars at the bottom, there’s no bear cache so bring a proper hang system, and conditions are best from late spring through fall when the road is dry and less loose underfoot.
