Trail Description

Brohm Lake Interpretive Forest in Squamish is one of those trails that gives you a solid workout without eating your whole day. The main loop is about 8 km with roughly 377 m of gain, topping out around 405 m, and most hikers finish in about 2 hours 45 minutes at a steady pace. It’s rated moderate, which feels accurate: enough roots, rocks, and short climbs to keep it interesting, but still manageable for most reasonably active hikers.

The Brohm Lake loop winds through classic coastal forest, with sections of smooth, wide path mixed with narrower, rocky, more technical stretches. You get regular peeks of the lake, and if you add in the upper trails toward the Tantalus viewpoint you’re rewarded with bigger views for only a bit more effort, though some folks are currently skipping that spur. The mix of shaded forest, short ups and downs, and lake access makes this a good “all‑rounder” hike close to Squamish.

Right now, the big thing to know is that the bridge is completely closed, so you can’t do the full Brohm Lake loop as mapped; plan on an out‑and‑back or partial loop instead. Expect a few downed trees across the trail, but they’re easy enough to step over, and crowds tend to concentrate at the swimming area while the forested sections stay fairly quiet. Dogs are allowed but should be leashed, and with the lake access and moderate elevation, Brohm Lake Interpretive Forest is most enjoyable from spring through fall, especially on a clear day when the views really open up.
