Trail Description

Brew Mountain via Roe Creek Trail is a classic Squamish grind: long, remote-feeling, and absolutely worth the effort. This 19.2 km out-and-back gains about 1,047 m to a high point around 1,729 m, and most hikers are out for 7 hours or more. It’s a challenging route, but between Brew Lake, Brew Hut, and the broad summit views, there’s a lot of reward packed into one day or an easy overnighter.

The hike starts on Roe Creek FSR, then works up through cutblocks and forest before breaking out into open terrain and lakes. From Brew Lake up to Brew Hut and the summit, the trail gets rougher, with overgrown sections, some rock hopping, and one steep scramble where an old rope used to be but is now gone. On a clear day you get big views toward Mount Garibaldi, Black Tusk, the Tantalus Range, and a whole ring of Coast Mountains, plus a cold swim option at Brew Lake and a cozy stop at the VOC-maintained Brew Hut.

Current reports for Brew Mountain via Roe Creek Trail mention a very rough, water-barred logging road where high clearance 4WD or AWD is strongly recommended, and many people end up parking short of the AllTrails trailhead, adding extra kilometres. The trail and road can be overgrown with a few confusing junctions, so download a map and keep an eye out for inukshuks and flagging, especially after Brew Lake. Mid-summer to early fall usually means minimal snow, moderate bugs, and good camping around the lake or in the hut, while winter and spring turn this into a serious snowshoe or ski tour with deep snow, slow travel, and a much bigger day.
