Trail Description

The Pre-Reaper – Reaper – Firehose – Family Guy trail in West Vancouver, British Columbia is a classic Cypress Mountain shuttle lap for riders who like things steep, fast, and technical. It’s a 4.3 km point-to-point descent that drops through dark forest, rock features, and tight corners, officially rated very easy on paper but absolutely not in real life for mountain bikers.

From the top, Pre-Reaper and Reaper set the tone with root webs, rock rolls, and quick line choices that keep you on your toes. Firehose carries the speed with more flow but still plenty of tech, before you finish on Family Guy, which is a bit more playful but still demands good bike handling and strong brakes. You’re mostly in deep forest, so it’s more about speed, traction, and features than big viewpoints.

Right now, the key with the Pre-Reaper – Reaper – Firehose – Family Guy route is timing and conditions: if it’s wet from rain or melting snow, locals avoid it to protect the trail and because the roots and rocks get slick fast. This is a downhill-only line, so plan a shuttle or be ready to pedal back up the road, and always check the Cypress Provincial Park seasonal closure info before heading out, since access can change with weather. Best riding is usually July through September when things are dry, but even then, expect a difficult, technical ride that’s not suitable for beginners.
