Trail Description

Cypress Falls Loop in West Vancouver is one of those short, satisfying hikes that gives you a lot in under an hour. At just 2.9 km with about 125 m of gain, it’s an easy loop on paper, but it still feels like a real forest walk, with canyon views, rushing water, and that classic North Shore mossy vibe.

The trail follows Cypress Creek through tall trees, over roots and rocks, with side paths dropping down to viewpoints of the lower and upper falls. It’s a bit of a maze in spots, with random offshoots and odd signage, so most locals stick close to the creek and keep an eye on a downloaded map. Expect a mix of rooty singletrack, short hills, a few slick sections after rain, and constant sound of water as you move between waterfalls, little viewpoints, and quiet corners of the forest.

Right now, hikers report the Cypress Falls Loop in great shape but muddy, rocky, and slick when it’s wet, so wear decent shoes and don’t treat it like a city stroll. The bridge over the river on one side of the loop is closed, so you’ll be sticking to the left side of the creek and doing more of an out-and-back variation. There’s no cell service at the trailhead, so sort out parking payment and download your map before you drive in, bring a light if you’re starting late, and expect a quiet, shaded walk with lots of water flow in the rainy months and a cooler, drier feel in summer.
