Trail Description

Caulfeild Park Trail in West Vancouver is one of those short coastal walks that feels way more relaxed than the busier seawalls nearby. It’s only 1.8 km out and back with about 35 m of gentle gain, usually done in under half an hour, but it’s easy to stretch that out with all the viewpoints and little side paths to the water. The vibe here is quiet, local, and low-key, ideal if you want an easy shoreline stroll without crowds.

The trail hugs the rocky coast rather than a paved seawall, so you get a mix of packed dirt, old staircases, small bridges, and short ups and downs. Stairways drop down to hidden coves and ledges where you can sit by the ocean, watch boats and seabirds, and on clear days take in views across Burrard Inlet. There’s also a small sandy beach that often feels surprisingly empty for being this close to the city.

Right now, Caulfeild Park Trail is in good shape but expect some rocky sections that can be slick, especially after rain or near the waterline, so wear shoes with decent grip and take your time on the rocks. It’s open year-round and stays enjoyable in any season, with calmer days offering the best shoreline lounging. Dogs are allowed on leash, amenities are minimal, and parking is easier from the south entrance, which fits the mellow, away-from-it-all feel of this West Vancouver coastal walk.
