Trail Description
The Incline Railway Trail to Brothers Creek Trail in West Vancouver is a short, forested out-and-back that feels more like a hidden local path than a polished tourist hike. At just 2.1 km with about 118 m of gain and a high point around 464 m, it’s an easy outing on paper, but the route-finding keeps you on your toes.
Once you’re in the trees, it’s all about damp forest air, old cut blocks, mossy trunks, and the sound of Brothers Creek nearby. The grade is steady but never brutal, and the old railway grade sections give it a bit of history as you walk. There aren’t big open viewpoints, but the appeal of the Incline Railway Trail to Brothers Creek Trail is the quiet, shaded feel and that classic North Shore forest vibe.
Recent hikers report the bridge at the start needs repair, but there’s an easy walk-around when water levels are low; after heavy rain or snowmelt, expect wet feet or a sketchier crossing. The trail can be hard to follow near the top, and it’s easy to drift off course if you’re chatting or not watching for junctions, so bring a GPS app and check it often. Plan this one from March to November for the best conditions, watch for mud after storms, and if you’re bringing a dog, know that off-leash is common but keep them close near the confusing sections and creek crossings.
