Trail Description

East Cypress Creek Trail, 5th Horseman, & BLT in West Vancouver is a short loop with some punch, mixing forest singletrack, roots, and quick elevation gain into a compact 6.1 km package. It’s rated moderate, with about 376 m of climbing up to roughly 658 m, so you’ll feel it in your legs but it’s still manageable for fit hikers looking for something under two hours.

The loop weaves through classic North Shore forest, with sections of tight trail, wooden features, and banked corners that clearly show its mountain biking roots. Views are mostly filtered through the trees, so the appeal here is more about the terrain and the moody West Vancouver forest than big open vistas or summits.

Current reports are clear: East Cypress Creek, 5th Horseman, and BLT are designed as biking trails first, hiking trails second. Expect to share the route with fast-moving riders, keep dogs leashed and tight to your side, and stay alert at crossings and blind corners. This loop can be slick after rain with greasy roots and mud, so good grip and ankle support matter, and it’s generally best from late spring through fall when the snow line is higher and the trail drains a bit better.
