Trail Description
Brothers Creek Trail - Lost Lake Trail - Main Trail - Skyline Trail in West Vancouver is a solid moderate loop if you like longer forest days with a bit of route-finding. It’s about 10.1 km with 513 m of gain, topping out around 872 m, so expect steady climbing but nothing extreme. Plan on roughly three and a half hours if you keep moving and don’t stop too long at the creek or Lost Lake.
The loop links classic West Van terrain: big mossy forest, a loud creek, small waterfalls, and calm lakes tucked in the trees. Lost Lake is the highlight and worth the push, and on clearer days you get some filtered city and mountain views from sections of the Skyline Trail. Trails can be rooty and slick, so treat this as a true hiking trail, not a casual stroll.
Right now, the full Brothers Creek – Lost Lake – Skyline loop as mapped on some apps is not realistically doable as shown. The Brothers Creek bridge on the Baden Powell has been removed and there’s a washed-out bridge plus some partially collapsed ones, overgrown Skyline sections, mild bushwhacking in the last third, and a 20-minute road walk on Millstream Road to connect things; parts can also be muddy and confusing to follow, so download the map and don’t rely on signage alone. On top of that, the “Meat Sweats” section is a high-speed downhill mountain bike trail and is signed for bikes only, so avoid it for safety and to keep the peace with riders; many locals recommend choosing a different route in this network instead. Expect bear activity around Brothers Creek (cubs have been seen), keep dogs leashed, go June through November for best conditions, and check current closures and bridge updates before you commit to the full loop.
