Trail Description

Richmond Nature Park East Loop is a quick, low-key escape right in Richmond, BC, and it does exactly what it promises: a short, quiet walk in the trees. At just 1.9 km with barely any elevation gain, it’s more of a relaxed stroll than a hike, and most people are done in around 20 minutes.

The loop winds through second-growth forest and bog habitat, so you’re walking under cover almost the entire time. Views are limited to mossy trunks, soft forest floor, and the odd bird flitting around, but the full shade makes it a solid option on hot or bright days and a calm spot for an evening walk or easy run.

The footpath on Richmond Nature Park East Loop is soft, flat, and very gentle on knees and ankles, with no roots or rocks to worry about, and it’s usually quiet with only a few other people around. Expect more of a meditative nature walk than a destination hike, and know that dogs aren’t allowed, so leave pups at home. This loop works year-round, though it’s nicest from spring through fall when it’s drier underfoot; in wetter months, wear shoes you don’t mind getting a bit muddy and enjoy the peace and shade just minutes from the rest of Richmond.
