Trail Description
Railway Greenway in Richmond, BC is as simple and straightforward as it gets: a flat, paved 4.5 km corridor that cuts cleanly through the city. With only about 3 m of elevation gain and a max altitude around 5 m, it’s more of an urban stroll than a hike, which is exactly why locals love it for daily walks, casual rides, and easy family outings.
The trail runs point to point along the old railway corridor, with greenery on both sides and residential streets never far away. You’re close to main roads and transit the whole time, but it still feels like a calm linear park where you can zone out, keep a steady pace, and not worry about navigation because the Railway Greenway is literally straight through the middle of Richmond.
Current reports say the path is smooth, safe, and well used by walkers, cyclists, runners, and even scooters, with one rider covering the whole thing in about 15 minutes. It’s fully accessible, works in any season, and stays easy thanks to the flat grade, though you’ll want to watch for bikes and other users at busier times. The trail is near the 406 bus route, so it’s simple to start at one end and ride or walk point to point, making Railway Greenway a reliable everyday option in Richmond for movement without any fuss.
