Trail Description

Port Moody Shoreline Trail in Port Moody, BC is one of those easy, no-stress walks you end up coming back to again and again. It’s a flat 5.8 km out-and-back along Burrard Inlet with only about 24 m of elevation gain, so it feels more like a scenic stroll than a hike, and most people finish it in just over an hour. Families, casual walkers, runners, and cyclists all use this route, and dogs are allowed on leash.

The trail mixes paved path, gravel, boardwalk, and a bit of city sidewalk, linking Rocky Point Park with quieter forested stretches and shoreline views. On a hot day, the shaded forest sections feel noticeably cooler, then you pop back out to open views of the inlet, marinas, and the mudflats at low tide. It’s very much an “urban-meets-nature” kind of walk, with plenty of people at the Rocky Point end and a calmer vibe as you get farther along.

Right now, expect some construction and partial closures, especially around the shoreline deck, so you may need to detour or turn around earlier than the full 5.8 km. The path is well maintained and mostly flat, so it’s stroller and kid friendly, but keep an eye out for bikes and be aware there have been recent bear reports in the general area, even if sightings are rare. Port Moody Shoreline Trail is walkable year-round; go at lower tide if you’re curious about the mudflats, and aim for early mornings or weekdays if you want to avoid the heavier crowds near Rocky Point Park.
