Trail Description

Mundy Park Perimeter Trail Loop is a super relaxed 4.3 km walk in Coquitlam, not Port Moody, and it feels surprisingly quiet for being so close to the city. With only about 52 m of elevation gain and a high point around 177 m, it’s more of a casual stroll than a hike, usually wrapped up in under an hour. It’s popular with locals who walk, run, and bring the dog, so expect a friendly, community feel on the trail.

The loop circles the edge of Mundy Park through tall second-growth forest, with wide, well-groomed paths that are easy to follow. You’ll get cool shade from the dense tree cover, a few short ups and downs depending on which direction you start, and side trails that lead toward Mundy Lake and other small ponds. Views are mostly forested, with only brief glimpses of the lake, so the appeal here is the calm, green surroundings and easy walking rather than big viewpoints.

Right now, Mundy Park Perimeter Trail Loop is in good shape and well maintained, with clean, wide tread and lots of shade that makes it comfortable even on warm days or light rain. After heavy rain, expect some flooding on the Mundy Lake side trails and know that the tree canopy won’t fully keep you dry in a downpour. This area sees regular bear activity, including moms with cubs near the southeastern sections and even in the parking lot, so carry bear spray if you have it, keep dogs leashed, stay alert, and give wildlife plenty of space. Parking can be tight on weekend mornings, so go early or aim for a quieter weekday.
