Trail Description

Gatensbury Road Cycle Path in Port Moody is a quick, no-nonsense route that links the hilltop neighborhood down toward the water with very little time commitment. At 3.1 km point to point with only about 33 m of gain and a max altitude around 161 m, it’s more about getting from A to B than tackling a big adventure. Locals use it as an easy spin, a short walk, or a casual afternoon run when they just want to move.

The path follows Gatensbury Road, so expect pavement, traffic noise, and steady grades rather than a forest escape. Views come and go between houses and trees, with occasional peeks toward Port Moody’s inlet and surrounding hills. It’s a straightforward route, which makes it handy for beginners, families, or anyone easing back into walking or cycling.

Recent users mention it being “nice and sunny” and also “steep,” which sums up Gatensbury Road Cycle Path well: the distance and stats are very easy, but some sections feel punchy, especially on a bike or run. Plan for about 49 minutes at a relaxed walking pace, and keep in mind that going downhill one way means a grind on the return if you backtrack. The path is accessible year-round in Port Moody, though in winter you’ll want to watch for slick patches, and in summer the open sections can get warm, so bring water and sun protection.
