Trail Description

Sapperton Landing in New Westminster is a quick, easy riverside walk that feels like a reset button in the middle of the city. At just 1.9 km out and back with almost no elevation gain, it’s more of a relaxed stroll than a hike, and most people are done in about 20 minutes. It’s a solid choice if you want some fresh air along the Fraser River without committing to a big outing.

The path is paved the whole way, making it friendly for strollers, small kids, and anyone who just wants a smooth, flat route. You follow the Fraser River with steady views of the water and the Pattullo Bridge, plus working river traffic that keeps things interesting. There are a few benches and spots to pause, watch the boats, and take in that classic New Westminster riverfront vibe.

Recent visitors describe Sapperton Landing as a “nice short walk” and that’s exactly what you should expect: simple, clean, and straightforward. It’s open year-round and usually stays accessible in all seasons, though it can feel damp and chilly by the water on grey days, so bring a layer. Dogs are allowed on leash, and if you’re coming by transit, the upgraded northern connection to Sapperton SkyTrain makes it easy to link this walk with other urban routes or errands around New Westminster.
