Trail Description
Queen’s Park Loop in New Westminster is the kind of easy city walk you end up doing way more often than you plan to. The loop is about 1.9 km with almost no elevation gain, so it’s more of a relaxed stroll than a “hike,” and most people finish it in around 25 minutes. It’s a handy option if you want some trees and fresh air without leaving town or changing into full hiking gear.
The loop winds around Queen’s Park on wide, mostly paved paths with a few side trails that tempt you to wander. You’ll pass big mature trees, small garden areas, and open lawns, with lots of benches and side routes if you feel like exploring instead of sticking to the exact Queen’s Park Loop line. It’s an easy place to turn a quick lap into a longer meander, especially when the fall colours hit and the maples and other trees go bright yellow and orange.
Because this is a central public park in New Westminster, expect it to be busy at peak times with dog walkers, families, and runners. If you want it quieter, go early in the morning or on a weekday, and use a map the first time if you care about following the official 1.9 km loop instead of just roaming. The trail is comfortable year-round, but shoulder seasons are especially nice as the temperatures are mild and the trees put on a good show; just bring a light jacket and be ready to share the path.
