Trail Description

Silver Hill in Mission, BC is a short but steady climb that gives you a good workout without eating your whole day. The trail is 4.8 km out-and-back with about 244 m of gain, topping out around 377 m, so it’s labeled moderate but very doable for anyone with a basic fitness level. Expect about an hour and forty minutes at a relaxed pace, a bit less if you keep moving.

The Silver Hill trail starts in the trees and stays there most of the way, with classic Mission forest vibes: mossy ground, roots, and plenty of shade. The grade is fairly consistent, so you’ll feel it in your legs, but there are no technical scrambles, just a straightforward climb and descent. Views are more about the forest atmosphere than big open vistas, making it a calm, quiet walk away from busier Fraser Valley hikes.

Recent hikers report the trail is very wet and slippery on the way down, so good tread on your shoes is important, and trekking poles are a smart idea if you have them. Expect mud, slick roots, and puddles in the rainy months, which in Mission can be most of fall, winter, and early spring. Dogs are allowed on leash, and this route works well on cooler or overcast days when you don’t need big views, just a solid, close-to-town forest hike with some elevation.
