Trail Description

Rolley Lakeside Trail in Mission, BC is the definition of an easy, low-stress walk in the woods. This 2.9 km loop circles Rolley Lake with barely 36 m of elevation gain, so it feels more like a relaxed stroll than a hike, and most people finish it in about 40 minutes. It’s a solid choice if you want fresh air, a leg stretch, and lake views without committing to a big climb.

The Rolley Lakeside Trail starts from the day-use area and quickly tucks you into classic coastal forest with tall trees, mossy logs, and plenty of “naturey bits” to keep kids and casual walkers interested. The path rolls gently along the shoreline, with short side views of the lake and calm water that’s warm enough for a summer swim. It links easily with the campground, and if you want more challenge you can branch toward Rolley Falls, though that section has more exposed roots and is trickier underfoot.

Recent hikers say the loop is well maintained and generally in good condition, but expect roots, rocks, and some muddy sections, especially after rain, so wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. People mention minimal mud when the ground is frozen, but “super muddy” patches in wetter spells, so watch your step and keep your eyes on the trail. Rolley Lakeside Trail can get busy near the main beach and day-use area, while the loop itself stays fairly calm, with dogs allowed on leash and a mellow vibe year-round from February through late summer.
