Trail Description

Norrish Creek Trail in Mission, BC is a short, easy out-and-back that feels more like a quiet riverside ramble than a big mountain mission. At 5.1 km with just 155 m of gain, it usually takes around an hour and a half, but you’ll want extra time for creek views and swim stops. It’s a solid choice if you want something low-effort, close to the water, and away from the usual crowds.

The trail follows Norrish Creek with frequent peeks down into the canyon and a steady soundtrack of moving water. You’ll pass wildflowers in season, pockets of shade, and a few rocky, rooty sections, with the best viewpoint coming before the official end of the mapped route. Many locals turn around there or drop down toward the river to explore the “hole in the wall” area and the clear pools on the opposite side of the creek.

Right now, expect an easy rating on paper but a bit of a scruffy feel in spots: overgrown brush, blackberry canes, spider webs, and some sections where it’s easy to drift off the main line. Long pants are smart, and so is solid bug spray; recent hikers report heavy mosquitoes and a wasp hotspot near the northwest end, so watch your footing and consider turning back before the last slippery hill. Trail work has been done near the northern end, but most people agree the best payoff is the canyon view and the river access, with swimming holes that make Norrish Creek Trail a great warm-weather option, as long as you’re wasp- and nude-beach aware if you’re bringing kids.
