Trail Description

Lost Creek Trail in Mission, BC is one of those routes you do when you want quiet forest time more than big payoff views. This 8.9 km out-and-back gains about 411 m and tops out around 866 m, so it’s a steady moderate grind that usually takes around 3 hours. It’s not a showstopper, but if you like low-traffic trails and don’t mind a bit of roughness, it has its own kind of appeal.

The hike itself is mostly in the trees, with classic coastal forest, roots, and a few muddier sections depending on recent weather. You won’t get huge panoramas or lakes, and the creek isn’t exactly a highlight right now, so go in expecting a quiet woods walk rather than a big viewpoint mission. The upside is you’re unlikely to see many people, so it’s good if you want a more secluded feel close to Mission.

Recent hikers report Lost Creek Trail being unmarked in a few spots and very overgrown, to the point where they had to refind and remark the route themselves. Expect faint tread, some bushwhacking, and bring a GPS track or offline map so you don’t waste time searching for the path. Until it gets some proper maintenance, this one is better for experienced hikers who are comfortable with route-finding, and it may actually shine more in winter as a snowshoe or cross-country ski option when the brush is buried and the route is easier to follow.
