Trail Description

Gold, Tsuga, Snakes and Ladders, and Shotgun is a classic Mission, BC singletrack link-up that feels like a greatest-hits tour of the local trail network. At 7.6 km point-to-point with about 407 m of gain and a high point around 584 m, it’s rated moderate and usually takes just under 3 hours on foot. The route is popular with mountain bikers, runners, and hikers who want something a bit technical without being a full sufferfest.

On the ground, expect a mix of rolling forest trail, short punchy climbs, and flowing sections where you can settle into a rhythm. The path winds through dense coastal forest with filtered views and that classic Mission moss-and-cedar vibe, with roots, rocks, and a few steeper pitches keeping you on your toes. The point-to-point layout makes it feel like a real journey instead of a quick out-and-back lap.

Current reports for Gold, Tsuga, Snakes and Ladders, and Shotgun around Mission say to be ready for mud and slick roots after any rain, and to watch and listen for fast-moving bikes on the descents. Good trail shoes with grip matter more here than sheer fitness, and trekking poles are handy if you’re not used to rougher ground. This route is hikeable year-round most winters, but it can see snow or ice at the higher spots, so shoulder seasons call for extra layers and maybe microspikes, while late spring through fall offers the most straightforward conditions.
