Trail Description

Campbell Street Upper Loop in Mission, BC is one of those “looks easy on paper, feels tougher in the legs” kind of hikes. The loop is about 5.5 km with around 234 m of gain, topping out near 533 m, and usually takes around 1 hour 45 minutes at a steady pace. It’s rated easy, but recent hikers are calling it more of a light to moderate grind thanks to the climb and some rougher sections.

The route mixes old logging road with short stretches of true forest trail, so expect a blend of wide gravel and narrower, rocky bits. Views come and go along the logging road, with a few decent openings over the Mission area, but the actual high point is mostly trees and not much of a lookout. The appeal here is more about quiet forest, very few people, and a bit of a workout rather than big summit payoffs.

Right now, conditions on Campbell Street Upper Loop are messy and changing. There’s active logging on the lower trail, deadfall in spots, and trees reported down right at one of the entrances, plus some muddy patches and loose gravel, so watch your footing and check recent reports and city trail closures before you go. The upper section is still hikeable with decent flagging, but you’ll spend a lot of time on logging roads and picking your way around debris, so this loop is better for locals who are comfortable with navigation, don’t mind a scarred forest, and are just out for a quiet, dog-friendly leg burner close to Mission.
